Corporate at Salvation Army Angel Tree Program
For the holiday season, the Corporate office split into 2 groups to complete a volunteer day at the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program. The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program has been running for over 35 years to ensure that children have a wonderful holiday season with their families by collecting donated gifts and giving them to families in need.
The first group sorted and packed these gifts for families. The gifts were stored in boxes with numbers for each family and contained items such as clothing, dolls, bikes and scooters. The volunteers made sure all gifts were allocated to the correct family box.
The next step of the Angel Tree Service is to hand out the gifts to those families. The second group from Corporate loaded up the wagons with those gifts and distributed them to the correct families. 421 families were scheduled to pick up gifts in just that one day--that's about 40 families every 15 minutes!
The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program is one of the largest in-kind corporate giving programs in the National Capital Area and Middleburg is happy to be part of this wonderful program for the second year in a row!
